As we reach the middle of the year, we have been reflecting on the people who make our mission possible.
We think about the children and families who trust us with their journeys. We think about the volunteer surgeons, nurses, donors, and supporters who step forward when help is needed. We think about the partnerships that continue to grow and create opportunities for children who may not otherwise have access to specialized care.
Every child who comes to Little Baby Face Foundation has a unique story. Some travel across countries or continents to receive treatment. Some arrive after years of searching for answers. Others are seeking specialized care for conditions, including microtia, hemangioma, cleft lip and other facial differences, while some are just beginning a journey that will continue for years to come. What connects them all is a community of people willing to step forward and help.
As we look back on the first half of the year, we are filled with gratitude for the progress we have seen, the relationships we have built, and the lives that continue to inspire us.
The Children Who Inspire Everything We Do
At the heart of our work are the children and families who remind us every day why this mission matters.
Earlier this year, we introduced our community to Madam and her mother. Before Madam ever arrived for care, her mother had already been carrying the first part of the journey. She advocated for her daughter, completed the application process, prepared for travel, and held onto hope for the future.
Her story resonated with many of us because it reflected something we see often. Parents begin fighting for their children long before treatment starts. They navigate uncertainty while continuing to move forward with courage and determination.
We also celebrated important milestones with Luna, who traveled from the Netherlands to receive care through LBFF. Seeing her progress after surgery reminded us why access to specialized treatment can be so life changing for children and families. Her journey is a powerful example of what can happen when compassionate care and community support come together.
Gogi continued moving forward in his care journey this year as well. His updates reminded us that healing is not always measured by a single procedure. It is often a series of steps that require patience, trust, and ongoing support from family members and medical teams.
We were also honored to share Javier's story. As he receives care, the support of his family remains a central part of his journey. Stories like Javier's remind us that every child receiving treatment is surrounded by people who love them, advocate for them, and help them navigate each stage of care.
Most recently, we welcomed Aisling back from Ireland for follow-up treatment. Her return highlighted an important part of our mission. Our commitment to children does not end after surgery. We remain invested in their long-term care and well-being because every child deserves continued support throughout their journey.

A Connection That Continues to Grow
One of the most meaningful developments this year began with a connection we made through Dr. William Rhodes.
Earlier this year, we were honored to introduce Dr. Rhodes to our community after meeting him through the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress, where he received the ACS/Pfizer Surgical Volunteerism Award.
Dr. Rhodes has spent decades providing surgical care in communities where access to specialized treatment is often limited. His commitment to service reflects the values that guide our work every day.
What started as an introduction quickly became something much more meaningful.
As our relationship with Dr. Rhodes continued to grow, so did opportunities to work together on behalf of children in need. His dedication, experience, and willingness to advocate for patients have already made a significant impact on our mission.
It is easy to understand why members of our team have described this connection as a gift that keeps on giving.
The BAHA Mission
One story from this year captures the power of partnership particularly well.
It began when Dr. Rhodes reached out to us from a refugee camp regarding a child who urgently needed hearing support.
The situation required quick action, collaboration, and a community willing to help.
Our team immediately began working with partners, medical professionals, and supporters to explore solutions.
As shared throughout our BAHA Mission updates, what followed was a remarkable example of people coming together around a child in need.
Dr. Rhodes first connected with our team after we met through the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress. When he reached out about a child who needed hearing support, our team moved quickly. Pauline connected with Diane, our patient coordinator, and the work began.
Soon, supporters, medical professionals, and advocates were all contributing in different ways. An anonymous donor stepped forward with a $5,000 gift to cover the cost of the hearing device. Medical professionals donated their expertise to ensure the device was properly programmed. Trusted partners helped coordinate transportation and delivery.
The journey itself became a story worth sharing.
The device was programmed and prepared for travel. It was delivered through a network of dedicated individuals who believed a child deserved the opportunity to hear. Along the way, we followed updates as the device traveled across continents toward its destination.
For us, the BAHA Mission represents everything we value as an organization.
A need was identified. People stepped forward. Partnerships were formed. Generosity created momentum. Together, a group of individuals who may never meet one another worked toward a common goal.
We often talk about the importance of community, and this story shows exactly what that looks like in practice. It is a reminder that meaningful change happens when people are willing to act.
The BAHA Mission also highlights something we see every day. Access to care is about much more than a procedure or a device. It is about relationships, trust, coordination, and people choosing to help one another.
We look forward to sharing more updates as that journey continues.

Building for the Future
This year has brought several important milestones for our organization.
During our annual meeting in March, we reflected on our progress and discussed how we can continue expanding our impact in the years ahead.
We were proud to celebrate Pro Bono Counsel and Board Member Melanie Rupert, who was recognized as one of the Top 50 Women in Law by Women We Admire. Her leadership, integrity, and dedication continue to strengthen our organization and help guide our mission.
Another exciting development was the addition of Dan Correia to our Board of Directors. As we continue to grow, strong leadership and diverse perspectives help ensure we remain focused on serving children and families with excellence.
While these milestones may happen behind the scenes, they play an important role in strengthening our organization and expanding access to care for the children and families we serve.

Looking Ahead
As we look toward the second half of the year, we are filled with gratitude.
We are grateful for the families who trust us.
We are grateful for the surgeons, nurses, and medical professionals who volunteer their time and expertise.
We are grateful for the donors whose generosity helps fund critical expenses such as operating room fees, anesthesia, travel, lodging, and other costs that make free care possible for accepted patients.
Most importantly, we are grateful for the children who inspire us every day.
Their courage, resilience, and determination remind us why this mission matters.
There is still much work to do. More families are searching for answers. More children are waiting for opportunities to receive care. We remain committed to expanding access to reconstructive treatment and support for children with facial differences while continuing to strengthen the partnerships that make this work possible.
We look forward to continuing this work together.
Thank you for being part of the Little Baby Face Foundation community. Your support helps create opportunities, restore hope, and transform lives.
Together, we will continue helping children build brighter futures.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do we help children access care through Little Baby Face Foundation?
We provide life-changing care for children with facial differences through our network of world-class volunteer surgeons. When a child is accepted for care, we help cover critical expenses such as operating room fees, anesthesia, travel, and lodging, allowing families to focus on their child's journey rather than the financial burden.
If your child may benefit from care through LBFF, we encourage you to complete our confidential online application so our medical team can review eligibility and next steps.
Why do we share patient stories and mission updates?
We believe every child and family has a story worth sharing. Patient stories help us celebrate milestones, raise awareness, recognize the people who make our work possible, and show supporters the real impact of their generosity. They also remind families around the world that they are not alone.
How can we support more children and families in the future?
Our ability to help children depends on the generosity of donors, volunteers, medical professionals, and community partners. Whether someone chooses to donate, share our mission, volunteer their expertise, or connect a family with our organization, every act of support helps us expand access to care and create more opportunities for children with facial differences.
