From the initial consultation to post-surgical care, we are with you every step of the way. Our process begins with a thorough evaluation of the patient’s application. If the medical team determines that Little Baby Face Foundation can provide effective services, they create a tailored treatment plan and schedule a consultation. Whether it involves a single procedure or a multi-year approach, our goal is to ensure the best possible outcomes for each patient.

We treat a wide range of congenital facial birth defects, offering specialized care for each condition.

Below is a list of conditions we treat, with links to more information on how we can help:

Microtia Atresia

Microtia is a congenital condition where one or both ears are underdeveloped, often resulting in hearing loss and noticeable differences in appearance. At the Little Baby Face Foundation, we specialize in treating Microtia through advanced surgical techniques designed to reconstruct the ear and restore hearing.

Hearing Restoration

Children born with ear deformities often experience hearing loss due to the absence of ear canals and/or middle ear structures. For those affected in both ears—known as auricular atresia with absent ear canals—immediate attention and hearing rehabilitation is crucial to prevent the significant developmental challenges associated with early deafness.

Clefts

Cleft conditions, including cleft lip, cleft palate, and facial clefts, occur when parts of the lip, mouth, or face do not fully join during early fetal development. These conditions can affect a child’s ability to eat, speak, and breathe properly, as well as their physical appearance. Surgical repair of clefts is essential for improving a child’s health, function, and overall quality of life.

Goldenhar Syndrome

Goldenhar syndrome is a rare congenital condition that affects the development of the face, often involving underdeveloped ears, jaw, and eye areas. It can also cause asymmetry in the skull and spine. Surgical intervention improves a child’s physical appearance, breathing, and hearing, fostering better health and helping build confidence.

Hemifacial Microsomia

Hemifacial microsomia (HFM) is a condition that affects the bone, muscle, fat, and nerves of the face. The physical deformities and traits of HFM vary from mild presentation with slight asymmetry to severe absence of facial structures. This condition is progressive and becomes more apparent as the individual matures. HFM is the second most common facial deformity, occurring in approximately 1 in every 5,600 births.

Vascular Birthmarks & Hemangiomas

Although birthmarks are common, some children are born with concentrated areas of hyperpigmentation, called vascular birthmarks, appearing as red or brown spots on the face or neck. These vascular birthmarks are classified as either hemangiomas or vascular malformations and can often lead to severe complications. Early intervention through corrective surgery is essential in preventing potential health risks.

Hairy Nevus

While Pigmented spots (nevi) are a normal part of aging, they are uncommon in children and can occasionally lead to malignant degeneration. Small nevi can be removed without much difficulty in just one excision procedure. Larger nevi pose a demanding reconstructive challenge and should be treated by experienced pediatric plastic surgeons. Removing very large nevi may require multiple stages or placement of tissue expanders to create extra skin.

Little Baby Face Foundation also treats children with:

Arteriovenous Malformation

A tangle of abnormal blood vessels that disrupts normal blood flow and oxygen circulation, often appearing on the face or scalp.

Nasal Atresia

A congenital blockage of the nasal passages that can cause breathing difficulties in infants and children.

Facial Atrophy

A condition where facial tissues progressively shrink, leading to asymmetry and functional challenges.

Nasal Clefts

Congenital separations in the structure of the nose, affecting appearance and sometimes functionality, such as breathing.

Facial Tumors

Abnormal growths on the face that can be benign or malignant, often requiring surgical removal for health and aesthetic reasons.

Treacher Collins Syndrome

A genetic condition that affects the development of facial bones and tissues, often causing underdeveloped cheekbones, jaw abnormalities, and ear deformities.
