Hope For My Child’s Future...

“When I first saw Eddie’s face, words can’t describe the devastation I felt. Hope for my child’s future was replaced by a feeling of powerlessness. How could we protect him from the pain he would find?”

“The Little Baby Face has given Eddie a beautiful face and given us hope for his future. Thank you, thank you, thank you...”

Sandra Hobbs, Winslow, Arizona

Services

Having a child born with a facial disfigurement is traumatic for any family, but the myriad of new treatments available should reassure those who love and care for these children that the future can be a bright one.

The Little Baby Face Foundation has defined four core service areas that are the focus of its efforts to treat these children and their families:

Corrective Surgery & Medical Service

  • Full medical evaluation services for each child, including physical exams, scans, x-rays, and other diagnostic testing.
  • Surgery required to correct the deformity. On average, each child requires two (2) surgeries that last approximately three (3) hours each.
  • Accommodations for the child and an adult guardian and transportation to and from New York City. The average stay is one (1) week per surgery.

Family Support

  • Education regarding corrective surgery and treatment alternatives.
  • Connection to services and support groups.
  • Information regarding applying for social service programs such as Medicaid. Assistance with providing medical justification for corrective surgery.
  • Family Reference Section on web site.

Physician Education

  • Grand Rounds for hospital and pediatric interns
  • Educational seminars on identification and current treatment protocols for correcting infant/child facial deformities.
  • Fellowships for surgical training.
  • Physician’s Reference Section on web site.
  • Consultations for reconstructive care management.

Research

  • Education and documentation of new surgical reconstruction techniques.
  • Utilization of new materials and products which enhance the quality of reconstruction surgery.
  • Development of treatment protocols and standards for holistic approach to reconstructive case management.
